Well I’m proud to say that I’ve stuck with blogging for one month straight now – yay for me! That’s a HUGE accomplishment for me because I’m one of those people that expects “instant” results and we all know that doesn’t happen!!!
I’ve been trying to juggle working full-time and trying to find time to write. I have however tried to stick to a routine…in the mornings, I get all my posts scheduled for Facebook and Twitter (using Hootsuite). I also try to spend some time on Pinterest…getting boards cleaned up, repinning content, etc…In the afternoons, I try to get some writing done.
I’ve discovered that I actually spend more time being active on social media (trying to keep my accounts active and driving traffic to my blog) than I do writing blog posts which is kind of frustrating because I thought that I’d have more content out by now.
This week, aside from this Weekly Roundup post, I was able to write 3 other posts:
What I Accomplished
As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been going full-tilt on Pinterest and Twitter. For Pinterest, I signed up for BoardBooster and am starting to get the swing of things. I’m pinning about 50-60 per day (depending).
Here’s a screenshot of my Pinterest profile from last week:

Honestly, I was hoping to gain more followers than I actually did over the last week but I’ll take what I got!
I also checked my Pinterest Analytics and was quite pleased with the results, however I just wish I could generate more traffic to my blog but I’m told that will come with time (I hope!). I’m really happy that my “average daily viewers” and “monthly average viewers” have both gone up quite a bit.
As for Twitter, I post about 10-12 times per day – sharing a combination of my content as well as other relevant content. I was really happy to see my Twitter Analytics as it showed a major improvement from last week.
Even though both the Pinterest Analytics and Twitter Analytics showed improvement, I haven’t seen much traffic coming from either source which is quite disappointing. As you can see from my Google Analytics report below, traffic starts around November 8th and peaks on November 28th.
When I saw the peak on November 28th, it made me wonder why those stats were higher – I’m guessing it was because it was a Saturday? Makes me wonder if traffic is generally higher on weekends? From this point forward, I will check stats on weekends to confirm this theory.
Aside from social media, I’ve been getting a few subscribers to my newsletter (a whopping 9!!!!) – I guess we all have to start somewhere right? I actually have a freebie called “How to Craft your Eye-Catching Subject Line” that I am using as an incentive for sign-ups and I’ve been promoting it on Twitter so I’m assuming that’s how I got those subscribers.
Last week, I was hoping to redo my graphics for my Facebook and Twitter profiles but that didn’t happen. I was also hoping to finish my ebook but I think for now, I won’t make it a priority. I’d like to focus on writing content and driving traffic to my blog. Afterall, what’s the sense of having a product for sale if you don’t have any readers?
Over the last week, I had about 110 pageviews so my goal for next week is to have close to 170-180 – I’m hoping traffic from Pinterest will start to pick up. I’d also like to finish my “Learn to Code – Ultimate Guide to HTML and CSS” blog post. It’s a very in-depth and long post which shows bloggers how to make HTML and CSS edits to their own blogs. I started it a while ago and want to wrap it up this week. Aside from that post, I’d like to write another 4 blog posts. I’ve been keeping track of different blog post ideas so I’m definitely not lacking there.
I really enjoy writing these “Weekly Roundups” because it gives me the chance to reflect on what I’ve been doing AND it keeps me accountable. Like I said in my Weekly Roundup – Week #1 post, I need to keep reminding myself to be a “marathoner” and not a “sprinter” – I honestly think that’s the secret to long-term success.
I’d love to hear how you’re making out with your blog! Leave me a comment below with your achievements and goals!
